A Methodist Trail Through England

A journey which follows the footsteps of John Wesley, tracing his life, his boyhood, his conversion and growth into the father of Methodism.
Our tour follows his trails on horseback as he preached throughout England spreading the word.
Sample Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in London
Arrival into London. An orientation tour of London focuses on London’s great world class highlights. Visit glorious Westminster Abbey including the memorial to John and Charles Wesley. Evening welcome dinner.
Day 2 - London
Today we visit sites associated with John Wesley in the historic City of London. Enjoy morning worship at Wesley Chapel. Visit Wesley House & Chapel, Bunhill Fields Cemetery, the key site of Aldersgate Street and St Paul’s Cathedral.
Day 3 - London / Lincoln
Tour to Boston, centre of 17th century Puritanism… continue to Lincoln Castle where Samuel Wesley was imprisoned. Visit Lincoln Cathedral.
Day 4 - Lincoln / Epworth / Newcastle
Drive to Epworth to visit the Old Rectory where the Wesley family lived, and St Andrew’s Parish Church and the Wesley Memorial Church.
Day 5 - Newcastle (Lindisfarne Isle)
Journey to Holy Isle of Lindisfarne today where St Aidan established a monastery in AD 636 and where John Wesley preached having ‘ridden over the sands to Holy Island’. Visit Bamburgh and return.
Day 6 - Newcastle /York
Tour to beautiful Fountains Abbey one of England’s best preserved monastic ruins. Continue to historic York, England’s most beautifully preserved medieval city. Walking tour of York.
Day 7 - York / Oxford
Tour to the historic university city of Oxford. Walking tour of colleges including Christ Church College and Lincoln College where John Wesley founded the ‘Holy Club’.
Day 8 - Oxford / Bath / Bristol
Scenic journey through the Cotswold villages. Visit Georgian city of Bath. Touring Bath including the key Georgian features and the Roman Baths. Continue to Bristol . Another key site in the Wesley spiritual trail.
Day 9 - Bristol / London
Tour this morning of the key Methodist sites in Bristol highlighting the oldest Methodist Chapel in the world.
Day 10 - London
Enjoy a full free day in London.
Day 11 - Departure London
Transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
